Equipment Needed:

• Protective Gloves
• Old dish cloth
• Washing up bowl or bucket
• Plunger
• Baking Soda
• White Vinegar
• Soda Crystals

Step 1: Take the plug out of the hole and check for grime that may be blocking the drain.

Step 2: Fill the basin with water. This makes sure that there is an airtight seal for the plunger.

Step 3: Using an old dish cloth, block the overflow making sure there is also an airtight seal there as well.

Step 4: Using the plunger and place in over the plughole. Push the plunger up and down gently, while still holding the dish cloth against the overflow. This creates a good seal.

Step 5: If your drain is still blocked, try using a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. All you need to do is pour of small amount of baking soda down the drain, then pour a cup of white vinegar in after.

Step 6: Leave the mixture to work for a few minutes and then use hot water to wash the mixture down the drain.

Step 7: If your basin is still blocked you may need to remove the u-bend and clean it.

Step 8: Look under the basin and find the first bend in the pipe. Position a bucket or washing-up bowl under the u-bend. This will make sure to catch any water.

Step 9: Unscrew the u-bend where it joins to the bottom of the sink. Stop unscrewing when the water begins to drip out. Let all the water drip out into the bucket/washing-up bowl. Once all the water has drained, completely remove the u-bend and look inside. If you see any grime , clean it out and then re-connect the u-bend. Hopefully you will no longer have a blocked basin. If it is still blocked we suggest you call a qualified plumber.

Step 1: Get an empty bottle and pour 2 cups of liquid glycerin in it. If your unable to get liquid glycerin you can melt a bar of glycerin soap instead.

Step 2: Pour 1 cup of water into the bottle, this will dilute the glycerin soap. Then add 3/4 tsp of salt to preserve the shower gel.

Step 3: Add 1tbsp of jojoba oil to the mixture. The jojoba oil gives your skin lasting moisture and has some healing benefits.

Step 4: Next you need to add 30 drops of essential oil of your choice to the shower gel mixture. Some examples of essential oils you could add include lemon essential oil for oily skin or a peppermint oil for a nice fragrant smell.

Step 5: Finally shake the bottle vigorously. This helps to combine all the ingredients together. Your homemade shower gel is finished.

Step 1: Nobody wants to waste water and your toilet flushing non stop isn’t going to help. To fix it you first need to locate the problem area by removing the cistern lid. Flush the toilet when the cistern lid is removed and check each component to see if there is something that obviously isn’t right.

Step 2: Is the water inside the cistern sitting below the water line? If it is then check if the water valve is fully on. If it isn’t simply adjust the valve and water will fill up the tank . If this does not work then the problem may be something else.

Step 3: The most common cause of a running toilet is that the flapper is stuck open and not covering the valve. This is a fairly simple fix, just reach into the cistern and close the flapper, Check the chain attached to the flapper as it could be tangled or twisted preventing it from closing. If tangled then simply untangle the chain using your hand. If the flapper still isn’t closing then there may be an issue with the part itself and will need replacing.

Step 4: If your toilet is still running then the next part to check is the float. Lower the float to lower the water in the cistern. This should stop it from rising too high. When the water level is too high, the water goes through the overflow pipe into the toilet bowl. This is what cause the toilet to keep running. The water level should be no higher than an inch below the overflow pipe. If your toilet has a ball float, bend it downwards to the level you want the water to be. If your toilet has a float cup, find the metal clip and then pinch and slide it so it is beneath the water level.

Step 6: Check the float to make sure that it isn’t clogged with water. This can cause the toilet to run. To check, unscrew the float and gently shake it, if you hear water inside then replace the float with a new one.

Step 7: After checking everything we have ran you through, leave the cistern lid off and flush the toilet to check that it has stopped continuously running. If it still runs, the flush valve or flapper may need replacing. If it doesn’t fun you have fixed it. Well done!
